Wander the cobblestone streets of the UNESCO-listed Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, admire masterpieces at the Ateneum Art Museum, experience the award-winning Oodi Central Library, and discover Finnish heritage at the Seurasaari Open-Air Museum. Arrive at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport

Transfer to your centrally located hotel.

After time to settle in, enjoy a leisurely walking tour through the historic city center, where elegant neoclassical architecture, bustling market squares, and scenic harbor views provide a wonderful introduction to Finland's capital.

This evening, gather for a welcome dinner at the historic Kappeli Restaurant, an iconic Helsinki landmark that has welcomed artists, writers, and travelers for more than 150 years.

Today's program introduces Finland's remarkable story as one of the world's most innovative and resilient societies. Through visits with local experts and institutions, you'll gain insight into Finnish culture, education, and the values that have shaped the country's success.

The afternoon includes time to connect with locals over a drink during an informal happy hour with SAM Helsinki, a nonprofit focused on promoting strong Finland-U.S. ties.  Afterward, in the early evening, you may experience the city’s beer culture in a vintage 1959 tram that has been converted into a mobile pub.

Explore the creative heart of Helsinki with visits to some of the city's most celebrated cultural institutions.

Tour the award-winning Oodi Central Library, a striking symbol of Finnish design and community life, followed by the renowned Ateneum Art Museum, home to Finland's greatest collection of classical and modern art. We'll also visit the Finnish Parliament House, the center of government in Finland. A tour will highlight the building’s design along with an insider's discussion of politics and governance.

Travel to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Suomenlinna, an impressive island fortress that has guarded Helsinki Harbor for more than 275 years. Wander along picturesque pathways, historic fortifications, and waterfront vistas while learning about Finland's maritime heritage.

Later, unwind with an optional authentic Finnish sauna experience.  Löyly Sauna allows those brave enough to dip into the Baltic Sea. For anyone not interested in sauna, Löyly is also a fun spot to enjoy the seaside over a drink or a bowl of salmon soup. Löyly has received a number of design awards and was listed by Time Magazine as one of the “World 100 Greatest Places in 2018.”
